Well for the last few days ive been spending a considerable amount of my day heading down to the Aliance of Avalon Workshops to check if they have any of the De-luxe miners for sale...each time i get my hopes up and each time theyre dashed...On the up side though I am starting to amass a nice little nest egg of working capital so that after the purchase i wont be completely wipped out.
Then i noticed a new AoA mining ship... one id never seen before....a miniac elite.....well that sounds better than a deluxe i thought to my-self... So i decided to contact the captain that was flying it....Cpt Booter, the leader of the Technomage Alliance. I asked him if it was a custom built ship just for him of if it was a new line from AoA. He responded by telling me that it was actually just a prototype that would not make it into production because the cost of manufacture was too high... i was a bit dubous but took him at his word....
The next day however i saw another one....and after asking aound a bit found out that it was a special design that was only being made available for close allies of the AoA, Ha...i think Cpt Booter took me for a fool.... I may not be the brightest star in the night sky, but im nobodies fool... Time to find out who this Cpt booter really is i thought as i sat down at the googlpedia terminal....my investigations didnt turn up too much of interest...it seems he may have something to with starting up something or possibly he may just be a fetishist. In case its the later ill have to pay attention to what shoes i have on next time hes in the same grid as me...i wouldnt want him to think i might be easy prey.....
I contacted Cpt Corwin to try and convince him to allow mw to purchase one of the elite line, but he didnt really respond to my enquiries about it... I guess he wasnt aware that it was the OCB who were ensuring that the casia starbase had a good and steady supply of certified bullion...and at prices below his advertised purchasing price i might add... still we did manage to agree to a new strategy for ensuring i got to purchase the deluxe... i would pay in advance and he would transfer ownership to me when the ship was ready. So i sent hime the funds and went back to work...eagerly waiting for the message to arive that my new ship was available.

Star Fleet
Just the one message this morning....from Hroskell...he actually denies he is a spice addict...yeah right... everyone knows that admiting that your an addict is the first step to recovery...hell he didnt even use any of the medicies i slipped into his ships cargo.
On the political front theres been an election at Zeta, and Tigger of the Technomage Alliance has won. I dont know if there were any opponents but i do know that there wernt any candidates name until right before the nominations closed. The raxian Governing Fleet also seems to have been disolved, and a few of their members have re-formed under Captain Green tree as the Planetary Guild. I will have to undertake a diplomatic tour of raxia some time in the next few days.
After sorting out my mail I checked my cargo listings, A figure from the first day onboard the JF1 turned up, Axeman, although under a different psuedonym slipped a ton of silicon into the JF2. When i asked him about it he said he didnt have any nickle..... nah yeah it left me wondering.
When i arrived out at big betsy...who has lost quite a bit of weight lately, i was shocked to find here in the middle of a swarm of ships from the StarFleet Aliance. Id never seen them before ad then suddenly half a dozen turn up!!! Well i didnt want to get involved without knowing what was going on so i checked in googlpedia for the Starfleet aliance. Armed with more information i guessed that they figured that the F-01 was burried in betsy...how it would have got there i couldnt say... well i didnt want them to get Dai X onto me so i thought i should message their leader... i guess alex brown was promoted after Dr Benn's untimely death.

Im sending out a message across the galaxy because I came across a large number of your captains today searching for the F-01 inside the roid that ive been mining. Can you please ask them to make sure that they dont destroy too much of the ore as i have a planet to support and without the income from my gold sales i will struggle to be able to afford to supply the nutrient packs that my people so desperately need.
If i can help in anyway with your search please let me know.
p.s. my warmest congraulations on succeding Dr Benn.
It cant hurt to have StarFleet at least on friendly terms should the Imperial Alliance attack here.

The Expansion
I have come to the conclusion that after only limited sales of bullion over the last few days that I have saturated the Raxian market. Only now am i begining to see other large mining ships around raxia. The current situation is untenable i cannot go on mining gold and not have it selling, besides the storage costs will ruin me.
I decide to remove a full cargo holds full from the market pack it up and take it to Casia, I figure with the blooming ship building industry that Corwin has developed, i should be able to sell it quickly, I listed it a bit higher than what i normally list bullion for in Raxia to cover transportation costs but it was still significantly lower than the othe lots of bullion for sale.... I cant imagine people would be willing to pay those prices... still i shall have to see how my sales go, If it sells too quickly then i can allways list it for more next time.
While checking prices in Casia i noted that Zaran had a lot of silicon available for sale at very reasonable prices. I didnt like the idea of returning to raxia with an empty caro hold so i stopped off on the way home and grabbed a few Iso's of silicon.... During the trip back to raxia i came up with another idea to expand my range of products on offer, I already had access to some of the best gold bullion in the galaxy, and with a load of silicon, it was begging me that is hould enter into the electronics game, I had seen the prices offered by Crowin in Casia and if i was bothered to spend the time then i would be able to speeze a little more profit out of my mining endeavours, besides it might also help reduce the glut of bullion in raxia and help drive prices up a little.
I finished off the day hanging out meeting new folks at the manufactory while my electronics were being produced.

The Shoe in
I Finished off my business on the Starbase and returned to Aeten to begin the campaign trail... the election nominations have closed and im the only candidate....I dont know why no-one else ran, after all what is their not to like about Aeten... Hydrophobes ha.
The Campaigning was more like a party, i flew in a few thousand iso's of Rumino Ale, we shut down the purification plant and then had a good old http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hootenanny hootenanny. Afterwards all i had to do was make sure at least one citizen was able to cast a vote...which they did...twas me ;) everyone else was to busy enjoying themselves.....
After I was sworn into office, I held interviews and have appointed a chief of staff and secretary, but other than making sure the planet is supplied with goods there seems to be nothing else to do as president .....
I decided that i should trade up the JonesFolly 2 for the MK2 Deluxe version, Cpt. A Hero's Welcome
Today while i was listing the latest batch of OCB certified bullion in the starbase market i heard that my home planet of Aeten was having a real hard time of it....apparently there was a major shortage of Nutrient packs, I hated to think of my childhood friends starving... so i decided to put my miners larger hold to charitable use rather than profit. I Ferried in several loads of nutrient packs from Brax, and a bunch of medicines.
While i was taking some shore leave to catch up with mom and dad, word got around the neighbour hood that it was me that had brough the hutrient packs in ( i Had tried to keep things quite ) and next thing i know there is a massive crowd outside all wanting to see me and shake my hand...I had heard it was getting bad but i had no idea that it was that bad.... apparently the Prsident Munstard hadnt been seen or heard from in ages...the planet was bankrupt and trade had all but dried up.
A new election had been called and before i had a chance to say no i found my name being listed on the candidate forms....
Ah well the election doesnt start just yet, perhapes the enthusiasim for me will die down once i head back to the starbase...although i have vowed to make sure that supplies never run that short again.

The OCB
No weird messages lately trying to get me to join peoples factions, It must be the new lumi i guess people figure Im already in some faction, oh well suits me fine, im happy being my own boss...i heard that in some factions the members have to pay 10% 20% or more of their profits to the faction.....hah you wont catch me doing that...
The JF2 is great her bigger cargo hold means i can haul a lot more gold ore and bullion than before....and this means that Im almost able to control the entire gold bullion trade at the raxian SB. I just found out whos been supplying the dodgy Saran liquor at the starbase...its my old mate Hroskell... apparently he picked up a whole cargo load for cheap ...i reckon it was probably past its used by date....or had be remolecularised...either way it was his stuff that we had when we went out on our bender last week.
If hes been sampling his own wares its no wonder hes become a spice addict...hed need to to be able to fly his trader while he was under teh influence of his saren liquor.
Me and the lads have taken to calling ourselve the Order of the Crimson Blades, since the lumi's we all have do look a bit like to crossed blades. Were even stamping it on the crates of bullion we put up for sale at the starbase... 100% OCB Appproved bullion, guaranteed effective for use in high quality electronics.

The Jones Folly 2
We spent the next few days going thorough every spaceport and way station in casia, talking to refinery bosses, chating up the ...starbase ladies... eventually we got a lead....there was a Faction around vega that had retrofited an acient ship yard and had just produced a few new ships. The Avalon Aliance .... Apparently their trade in apples had provided them with enough money to start the restoration.
I hailed the factions leader a Cpt Corwin, and asked him about the ships...the ship we'd seen in Raxia wasnt his but he had a miner almost ready and the buyer had backed out for lack of funds...I asked what the price was and just about fell of my chair. 110 million credits....was that all! Ok I didnt have much more, but i had expected prices to be much igher than that, so with a silent prayer of thanks to Betsy I transferd the credits and had teh ships transponder codded over to me.

A Piece of Cack
Well time flies when you get busy. I haven't had a lot of time to put my thoughts to paper lately.
Me and the lads had only just got back on our feet and returned from our first mining trip back out at betsy when there was a big commotion on the starbase promenade... everyone was just stopping what they were doing and standing still staring at the viewers.
There was a massive freighter pulling into to base...with a design that Id never seen before... I looked an my number 2 he looked at me...and we both shouted into our communicators...."to the ship boys and warm up the engines"...
Once on board, and pulled out from the Starbase we were able to take a closer look at the ship...its transponder was saying it was under the command of a Captain Ki11 of the Exillis Rain Alliance. Its build type was being listed as 'Piece of Cack' I had no idea what that meant so I quikly jumped to my googlpedia terminal, and searched for Cack. What No listings...
I was In the dark and then i recalled the rumors from earlier about shipyards and great fleets of warships being produced.....and then it became clear... as rumors are want to be, theyre only half true....there must be Shipyards out there, but theyre not making destroyers and battle cruisers like they did in the dark ages...no they were creating traders and miners....heck when i looked closer i couldnt see any guns on his ship...and even the JonesFolly has a plasma connon.
Perhapes we were entering a gold age of peace and galactic freedom....I headed for the cabin of the ships mate..."if i were say, to be on the lookout for a shipyard, where would your uncles brothers son suggest i look?" "oh thats easy Casia" he replied....
Back on the bridge i plotted a course for Casia...

Spice Addicts
Spoke with Hrosskell of the Spacing Guild again, actually im seeing more and more members of the spacing guild around raxia these days, Ive decided to offer them a friendship pact, after all i dont want a bunch of spice addicts stealing my cargo or busting up the jones folly just so they can fund their habbit. I hope Hrosskell has his habit under control.

We did What?
Arrrghh, please keep the noise down.....
Ive got a pile of un-answered messages that i need to work through...but i think ill wait untill tomorrow when the heads a bit clearer.
Im finally human again... well mostly... The night out went really well...perhapes a little to well, In not exactly sure what we got up to over the last few days but the Jones Folley is a real mess.... that lads have just finished cleaning out the cargo hold and found half a dozen units of cargo hold material...We did a real close inspection and we didnt strip it from the Folly, And i dont have any sales slips for it, heaven knows where it came from.
Weve also all got Lumi's so now whenever we walk past each other our sholders start to glow with an insignia, its not the old ships symbol (which incidentally has been re-painted), its a new one in bright crimson..... quite a few have taken to running around in singlets.... still i supose if any of the lads leave they can get them removed...it could have been a lot worse...and its really helped some of the new guys to gel into the team.
What i do have is a pile of sales slips from a hull plating manufacture in the Besian system... No idea where the plating is now...but my bank account isnt showing any massive boost, I can only hope that we were smart enough to put it up for sale in a Starbase somewhere...and if we did that i got the transfer details correct for the proceeds. Im going to have to head back there in the next few days and make sure we didnt store a whole pile of junk in the Starbase there...

Hard Sloggin
Well the last few days its been head down and bum up...putting in the hard slog out at big betsy. I think after that me and the lads needed some R&R, so we're off to the Rock Garden, the miners bar at the Raxian Starbase for some Saren Shooters later tonight.
Not a lot in the mail the last few days although i did get a few messages from a Cpt Hrosskell, then i noticed that he was shadowing me.... A quick check of googlpedia was enough to calm me down...it turns out that he was just following his natural urge to try and understand what i was doing...since hed followed me out to big betsy i showed him around and showed him one of our drilling crews in action....Its old hack for us miners but for a freighter pilot its probably quite interesting...well that was the impression he gave me anyway.
I got another update from CPt Zake, this time with some background info on the RGF. I also did my own checking in the Raxian Archieves and found out some interesting information about the last elections in Raxia...it seemed as though the Technomage Alliance ws going to win several planets but got piped at the post by both the RGF and SC.... seems luck just wasnt on their side....
Apparently they have set up a private information system that should help them perform better in the next round of ellectons. Im looking foward to it.
gold bullion seems to be selling well sometimes it takes a while for stock to clear but genrally its ok. I also tried out that trick wit buying cheap stocks and re-selling it at a higher price....although tat was in fullerite crystals. I had noticed there were some listed quite a bit cheaper than the rest so i snapped them up and relisted them closer in price to the rest...they sold that very day and i turned a nice little profit for nix.
I havent seen any demand for my stored meds yet,neither has anything come of the rumors about shipyards springing up across the galaxy....hopefully things will stay nice and quite even without a galactic armstice.

Market Manipulation.
A breakthrough, finally got a response from the RGF. Im not really sure what to make of it though, On the up side Cpt Greenleaf denies that the RGF have developed some sort of advanced cloaking device. It seems that when news started comeing through that the galactic amstice agreement might be coming to an end Several of their members decide that Early Retirement was their best option.... The rest of them seem to be just keeping low profiles, who can blame them.
Ive spent the rest of the day doing my usual trips out to big bety, apparently thats what the drill mechanics have started calling the raxian gold roid. Its a simple and quite life...i like simple and quite...like i was saying to some other captains at the miners bar in the star base....making money mining is simple...
You digs da stuff up, takes it to da place, dey melts it into other stuff, you takes it to da other place, dey sells it, you get rich.....its so simple even a cetan can understand it.
While i was happily going about my business i did notice some rather unusuall price movements on the raxian bullion market....It looks like someone was trying to drive the price of bullion up...They were purchasing all bullion listed below thir own sell price and then immediately re-listing at their sell rate...Ill have to remember that one.

Ive spent the rest of the day doing my usual trips out to big bety, apparently thats what the drill mechanics have started calling the raxian gold roid. Its a simple and quite life...i like simple and quite...like i was saying to some other captains at the miners bar in the star base....making money mining is simple...
You digs da stuff up, takes it to da place, dey melts it into other stuff, you takes it to da other place, dey sells it, you get rich.....its so simple even a cetan can understand it.
While i was happily going about my business i did notice some rather unusuall price movements on the raxian bullion market....It looks like someone was trying to drive the price of bullion up...They were purchasing all bullion listed below thir own sell price and then immediately re-listing at their sell rate...Ill have to remember that one.

Too Many Drugs
more great historical background from the Historian Zake in my messages this morning, this time about one of the earlist Captains to fly ships between the planets.
Once again all the bullion i had listed at the starbase has been cleared out, I have a twinge of doubt that perhapes its being put to use for manufacturing weapons control systems. Then again if not me then someone else eh!!!
then the news broke over the starbase like wildfire...5 shipyards were in opperation, some people were saying they were producing huge battle destroyers others were saying that they didnt have any parts yet.... I dont know who to believe.
To be on the safe side ive stockpiled a few medical supplies in the starbase (>15,000 iso's)...they were going at bargain prices at brax $1 a ton. Im sure the need for them will rise if not on my ship then on someone elses.
i decide to make myself scarce and head for the gold roid again. Nothing like some hard graft to take your mind off things....the day seems longer that usual....

Stormy Forecast
A quick check of my messages has not 1 but two very informative replies from the historian I was contacted by yesterday. He had plenty of information about the Technomage Alliance, and its roots in the distant past. It seems it was all started by some Alien Warrior, actually, my great uncle Syd (my namesake) used to tell us kids stories about him, he called him WarF but the historian told me his full name was actually WarFreak... Boy this historians sources are good, because WarF or WarFreak as he was called was around in the very earliest days of the Raxian Galaxy
if my uncle is anything to go by. He mentionaed he access to some sort of historical archieves from raxias distant past...boy id love to get my hands on those, oh well... all this history ain making me any richer...
time to check if my mates tip worked out. Stone the crows!!! he was right. I asked around the starbase this morning and apparently he came in during the quiet period loaded up and was gone.... there are rumours all over this morning the most common seems to be that he had a red skull and crossbones on the prow of his ship....seems the mystery buyer might be a pirate...oh the intrigue. I decide to bribe one of the starebase cargo handlers for the name...a Cpt Seqia something he didnt catch the last name. Still i googlpedia it and while the references are sketchy at best i do find some reference to HeavyLift Cargo. It seems this pirate knows how to move merchandise and lots of it...still as long as he's paying for mine its ok...right?

Negotiators from whole systems have walked out of the talks.. theres rumors everywhere that systems and factions are scrambling to build or get control of shipyards capable of building huge warships. I didnt expect this, I thought id be able to continue captaining the Jones Folley for the rest of my Career ands eventually save enough to retire on some Gaian pradise somewhere... It looks a lot more like theres going to be what some people refer to as 'Interesting Times' ahead.
Ah well no use dwelling on the storm clouds that are brewin, make hay while the sun shining my ma allways said. So ill head back to my roid...im getting to know it real well now.

Direct Sales
A quick check of my messages doesnt reveal any response from munsterd. But there is a message from a Raxian historian. Perhapes he'll be able to clear up a few things so i decide to write to him

Its great to hear that Raxia has its historians, I do have a few questions about our past, what can you tell me about the history of the 3 main factions ive identified so far that are operating in system...Raxian Governing Fleet, Soror Council, and the Technomage Alliance. Any info on their leaders would also be appreciated.
I see that there is about 1 run left to fulfill the bullion order i was working on yesterday, so we quickly complete it, then i get to thinking, Why should i be taking the bullion outsystem. after all the freighter captains are much more efficient at those sort of long hauls than me, Perhapes I can just list it for sale at the spacestation...
so as a trial i list the remainder of my load left over after finishing the purchase order. by the time i return with my next load its already sold....looks like i might be onto something here.
then one of the ships mates comes up to me and says hes got a hot tip from his brothers fathers other son....or something like that... i should be listing the bullion a lot higher, theres a rich buyer flying into Raxian starbase soon and hes going to buy all the bullion, and price is not an issue, i shrug, and list the bullion a whole lot higher, after all if my mate is wrong i can allway relist it tommorow, besides im Captain, i can have his guts for garters.
During the course of the day i was contacted by an ex model or something, I dont know his real name but he calls himself the coolest guy. Anway after i turned down his invite to join the faction that he is in he was kind enough to send me a gift of candied almonds, I was pleasantly surprised, they are one of my favorites after all. He was even thoughtfull enough to let me know the best way to eat them "suck my nuts". In my thankyou note i told him they were my favortie and that i already knew the best way to eat candied almonds was to suck them. He told me i was weird cause i was so happy go lucky...I dont think ill ever understand these model sorts.
I also was aproached by a member of a cult, or religous sekt, he calle himself brotha something or rather.... he tried to convert me but i dont know brotha jones sonds a bit weird to me...
anyway Im looking foward to seeing if this rich guy turns up at the starbase, i cant help wondering who it is and what he does... and if ill ever be that rich one day.

A Rich Haul
No messages this morning, So I decide to check local prices. At first i didnt notice but then i see it. Someone has a purchase order at the raxian starbase for 1000 units of bullion for 5m.
I knock over my breakfast tray in the scramble to get to the bridge. "Heads up" I yell to my crew "Theres a big order at the starbase and were going to fill it."
Poor Jones Folley hasnt worked this hard in ages, as we race from astroid to refinery to starbase and back again. Not long later the order has been filled and im 5m better off. I cant help wondering who placed the order, and to what use the bullion will be put, probably electronic control circuits for the spaceship industry.
I notice another order at the base, its only paying 1000 per unit of bullion, thats over 150 less than i can get out-system, but the profit per turn ratio is almost double since there is considerably less time wasted in flight. I decide to try and fill as much of that order as time permits.
On another note, no reply from any of the other recruiters yet on the benifits of joining a faction, However the Friendly Cpt Tigger provided possibly the best reason during a conversation we were having. "soon- you will find that hanging your captains hat in a space staion we all call home- or going planetside for some R&R with fellow fleet members will sound appealing". I think she was getting at commraderie and a sense of belonging...
Well Ive visited all the Planets in the Raxian System now, but surely there are more factions operating in Raxia that just RGF and SC, I have noticed that quite a few of the ships that i cross trails with in my trips around raxia are members of the Technomage Aliance, I look them up and notice that Cpt Tigger is also a member. Well what do you know. I later find out from Tigger that the Technomage Aliance is an open and friendly faction dedicated to training young men and women into hardened space pilots. A noble cause, Raxia could certainly do with more pilots. System Comms was empty again today, I popped in and out all day, and there was no-one there, not a sausage.
I have been wondering about Munstard and his RGF, I think it needs further investigation. Well as an Aeten my self he is my representative so i decide to write to the office of our president.

I am a constituant of yours, I have to admit that previously i wasnt too interested in politics but now that Im captain of a space ship the goings on in the system affect me more directly.
I was wondering Ive noticed that your also the leader of the Raxian Governing Fleet, and that the RGF also controls 2 other planets in our system. Does this mean that Aeten will be made the administrative center of the Raxian System? If so what effect will this have on common Aeten Captains like myself?
I hope ive given my letter the right tone, not to inquisitive, not to highbrow...
well its been a busy day, time to hit the sack.

Finishing a Tour of Raxia

I wake up and as is my usual routine I first check my messages. I have a one here from Cpt Tigger. It goes a long way to answering some of the burning questions that are still outstanding. The first and most important is just what sort of dancing Tigger does, As it turns out its Hula!!! So Tiggers not a mad pogo-ing mosh pit dancer after all. She also cleared up the he/she question.
No response from Captain Beefheart as yet, but i guess hes probably a very busy man.
I do a few gold bullion runs then its time to continue my tour of the planets in Raxia.
The Saphire Blue planet of Aeten is ruled by Munsterd of the Raxian Governing Fleet, The Planet of my birth...to be honest id never really worried who was in charge of it but now my googlpedia terminal turns up nothing of significance nor does it help in explaining what a governing fleet is... It seems Munstard is a bit of a mystery.
Tanis is ruled by Greenleaf, also of the Raxian Governing Fleet. My Googlpedia research indicates that Greenleaf is a master of Servant leadership. Intriguied i dig deeper and discover: Servant-Leadership is a practical philosophy which supports people who choose to serve first, and then lead as a way of expanding service to individuals and institutions It sounds to me as though Tanis is in good hands.
Soror is rulled by Aries, Grand Master of the Soror Council, I googlpedia Aries and discover "Aries, the specialist for biological"... my mouth goes dry, and my stomach churns ... i read on.... "products for house and garden." A wave of relief washes over me, Untill i see the message "Schlechte Nachrichten, für ungebetene Gäste" literally "Bad News for unwanted guests"!!!
Given that It seems as if the Soror Council is one of the main factions in the Raxian system at the momment. I should probably send Aries a message and introduce myself... see if he has anything against me pulling into orbit above Sorror.

The bullion exporter
well i woke up all rearing to go, first things first i clear my mail, to see that one of the unamed courtiers from yesterday is providing assassins training... Im sure it would be interesting but not something im looking for just yet...but Ill keep a note just in case...
my hopes of making a killing refining also apear to be dashed as i discover that no in-system planet is buying gold bullion. So its back to haulng gold ore...until it dawns on me that i could try looking at some of the neighbouring systems to see if any of them are buying bullion... a side trip to jexian results in good news, but it does seem like rather a hight turn cost, so i decide i should do a proper profit/turn analysis.
bullion run:
turn cost 99+(85-77)+56+99 = 262 turns
Cargo Sold: $169,756 Price - $14,800 Cost = $154,956 Profit
profit per turn = 590.870
just refining ore:
turn cost 8+20+20 = 48 turns
Cargo Sold: $18,204 Price - $0 Cost = $18,204 Profit
profit per turn = 379.25
So its decided Im switching from simply mining ore and selling it direct over to refining it and selling the bullion out of system... i can only dwell on what i would be getting if i didnt have to travel out of system.
While im hauling gold I thought Id take a look around at who's who in raxia at the moment.
Cpt beefheart is leader of brax and high lord of the soror council.. his description says...i come to you in peace, googlepedia suggests that he is an experimental musical genius whose seminal work was released the same year as the summer of love, so i guess the come in peace part must be right. Still its probably a good idea to keep on his good side so i decide to send him the following note.

I will be looking at the other planets in raxia over the next few days, after all i cant take too much time off from my bullion route can I.
my hopes of making a killing refining also apear to be dashed as i discover that no in-system planet is buying gold bullion. So its back to haulng gold ore...until it dawns on me that i could try looking at some of the neighbouring systems to see if any of them are buying bullion... a side trip to jexian results in good news, but it does seem like rather a hight turn cost, so i decide i should do a proper profit/turn analysis.
bullion run:
turn cost 99+(85-77)+56+99 = 262 turns
Cargo Sold: $169,756 Price - $14,800 Cost = $154,956 Profit
profit per turn = 590.870
just refining ore:
turn cost 8+20+20 = 48 turns
Cargo Sold: $18,204 Price - $0 Cost = $18,204 Profit
profit per turn = 379.25
So its decided Im switching from simply mining ore and selling it direct over to refining it and selling the bullion out of system... i can only dwell on what i would be getting if i didnt have to travel out of system.
While im hauling gold I thought Id take a look around at who's who in raxia at the moment.
Cpt beefheart is leader of brax and high lord of the soror council.. his description says...i come to you in peace, googlepedia suggests that he is an experimental musical genius whose seminal work was released the same year as the summer of love, so i guess the come in peace part must be right. Still its probably a good idea to keep on his good side so i decide to send him the following note.

I hope that you can accept my sincere appologies, but unfortunately i am no longer able to assist in fullfilling your planets gold ore requirements. I am but a poor miner and Im finding that it is more profitable to refine the ore and deliver the bullion elsewhere, im sure you can understand my plight. First Day
Well here i am a somewhat worn out captain in an even more worn out LMR. Im Starting out from Aeten in the Raxian System and for want of anything better to do Im going to start building my financial fortune by delivered 95 units of H20 packs to sorros. Ok so its not the stunning financial succes id hopped for, I make an amazing 18 credits profit per unit. Bbut it did give those eagle eyed recruiters time to notice me...
When a new player joins the CS Universe they have no affiliations, but thats usually resolved pretty quickly as not long after they arrive the Welcome messages start ariving. In abridged form these are typically of the form "Welcome, were such and such, join our faction, and well help you". The unsuspecting Noobie may oblige and join, but Ive been around the block a few times...and these days im not prepared to jump into bed with someone that i dont know.
Most of the messages and invites i received are fairly bulk standard, and i politely responded to them all, but a few do bear mentioning. Following an invite from a Cpt Axeman we struck up a conversation, I was initially a little wary, after all my googlepedia terminal says an axeman is a person who wields an axe, such as a woodchopper, an executioner or a warrior of antiquity. Still pondering what you would need an axe for in a space ship i declined his invite to come out to his system and join his faction, but he did have something very cogent to say "Well so far as Im concerned, meeting people is the only real profit in this or any game", I couldnt agree more, we ended our chat with me promising to look him up when i eventually make it out his way, maybe we could quaff a pint or two of Rumino ale.
Another of the welcome messages led to an introduction to a certian Captain Tigger, Tigger was very helpfull and provided me with the locations of the raxian starbase and all 3 raxian refineries and the type of ores they could process. He also gave me the location of a couple of asteroids, well since my trading effort hadnt exactly stunned me with its excessive profits It was probably time to put my LMR to the use for which it was designed. However Im not one to just jump to some random co-ordinates that apparently lead to a astroid made of gold. So i checked up on this Captain Tigger, My research was a jumble, theres something about orange and black stripes, and bouncing... Before i had time to interogate Cpt Tigger further I was told he (or possibly she) had to go to teach a dance lesson !!! So Im left wondering what sort of person this cpt Tigger really is, some sort of mad black and orange stripped pogo dancer? could i trust them? Still they had given me the starbase and refinery info, so I risk it...
It turns out Tiggers really are wonderfull things, sure there were a bunch of ships at the location provided, but rather than a Corvette welcoming party theyre all LMR's like mine, and are swarming round one massive roid made of ..just checking my scanners...yep GOLD. I spent the rest of the day shuttling gold ore from the roid back to a planet, just one more busy bee round the golden honey pot. My starting capital has quadruppled, still i cant help wondering if i should be refining the ore rather than selling the raw product, perhapes i can look into that tommorow.
I switch off the cabin lights and settle down for a well deserved rest, with dreams of solid gold astroids and massive fortunes to be made.

The Premise
Chosen Space is a space bassed MMORPG. The game itself is browser bassed which suits me just fine since ive moved to place where DSL and Fast internet access is not likely to happen anytime soon. ChosenSpace (CS) is just being released in version 2, its still in beta and a lot of the functions are not yet implemented, I played version One some time ago when the Raxian Galaxy was first added now im back, and since V2 is just being made available it seems like theres no time like the present to get in on the ground floor.
Last year some time i was looking at starting to play Eve (i was still on DSL at that time), and came across a nice little blog about a noob in null space, Unfortunately i dont have the link anymore, but i found the authors style amusing and went on to read his posting covering many months of activity in Eve as a noob in null space.
I thought I could apply something similar to CS and keep a diary of the people Ive meet and the goings on that Ive seen as the CS universe developes, so here goes.
